All my lovely inky things are hand- printed on quality eco friendly paper, recycled card and organic cotton using safe wash inks. The inspiration for my prints comes from the flora and fauna to be found in the country lanes surrounding the village where I live, the perennial flowers that come and go each season and the feathery friends that swoop and feed on the seed heads and bird feeders in my garden. We offer accessible, fun & creative art classes for adults < Back ColourWheel Exeter We offer accessible, fun & creative art classes for adults When you attend a ColourWheel course in our lovely venue in the South Exeter area, you will not only be “amazed at what you achieve”, but you will also meet like-minded people in a relaxed and friendly environment. Our venue is located outside of Exeter city centre just outside the village of Ide. We run classes on Tuesday’s. Our classes success is made all the easier by our wonderful teacher, Henrietta who will offer you guidance in a friendly and supportive manner. West Town farm ia a beautiful, organic working farm home to wildlife, an old railway cutting, orchards, stream, meadows and woodland. The Farm works closely with the community on many educational projects and there is a lovely farm shop selling the farm’s organic produce. Our classes are held in the barn which has lots of rustic atmosphere and charm but has excellent facilities. During good weather there are lots of lovely spots to paint and sketch outside. There is parking on site and any disabled parking will be arranged right outside the barn. Our courses are aimed at beginners and improvers. We start with drawing skills using pencil and charcoal and then move on to colour pencils and pastels. We use watercolours and acrylics during our painting blocks as well as coloured inks and brusho. All of the materials are provided by ColourWheel, you just have to turn up and enjoy! I studied photography and fashion and worked in the fashion and e-commerce world in London before retraining as an art and photography teacher. Photography and textiles have always been my creative home, with sewing clothes becoming my favourite way to switch off and reconnect. After moving to Cornwall and having children, I began finding my way back to creativity and to teaching. Claire-Louise is an eco-conscious alternative photographer whose work explores issues related to health, wellbeing, disability and discrimination, in a forthright and compassionate way. Through the unique practice of camera-less photography, which includes scannography, photograms, cyanotypes, chemigrams, and chlorophyll printing, to create a sense of pronounced feeling for both the artist and audience. Her work studies colour, texture, and sensory engagement. Materials for projects are obtained from scrap stores, charity shops, donations, or Vinted, reducing waste and curbing unnecessary consumption within the creative industries. Pitman seeks to educate people on inclusivity as she herself has 3 disabilities. Throughout her practice, her aim is to be accessibility-aware, but the most important goal is to ensure no one is left out. Why should individuals be singled out because photography is primarily visual-based? This can be achieved through audio content, tangibility, repurposed materials, and colour contrast. Through personal identity and lived experience, her work serves as both self-reflection and education, advocating for inclusive photographic practices that leave no one excluded. Learn more
