Sustainable maker, working to repurpose British organisation's resources to raise funds for charities. Marbling Artist + Leatherworker RACHEL O'CONNELL I am a sustainable, multi-media marbling artist and an educator. I marble on paper, natural textiles, including leather, and on wood. I love the diversity of marbling, creating leather goods, including jewellery, wearable textile art scarves, cushions, tableware, lighting and stationery. Marbling is a surface pattern art, originating in Japan over a thousand years ago and is now seen as an endangered heritage craft. WORKSHOPS If you are keen to learn how to marble, I tutor workshops in my own studio in South Devon, in local galleries and at events, like Craft Festival. I enjoy demonstrating in schools, galleries and museums throughout the UK. I am also a tutor for West Dean Art College, Oxford Summer Art School and The National Trust. SHOP I make to order, shipping 3-4 weeks from order and 6-8 weeks for larger trade orders. In my shop you will find a gallery of past makes, which can be custom made to suit. If you’d like a different colour, or need to match to an interior paint, send me a paint sample or fabric swatch to colour match I aim to ship kits, tools and inks within 7 days. READY TO SHIP In my shop, my Ready to Ship range offers one of a kind, limited batch runs, or pieces, ready for shipping, as well as some seconds (perfectly imperfect!) and samples. I also occasionally pop in second hand, but in good condition, equipment and tools, perfect for novice marblers. I announce the shop drop for limited batch runs via email to my subscribers first. Personalisation and gift wrap are complimentary, just let me know if you are gifting to someone special and I can leave the gift tag blank. Learn more
