Painting classes, workshops and demonstrations with Art Groups and Societies
After many years of making images as a cinematographer, looking through lenses, observing and creating light on set and stage, painting has re-invigorated the creative process for me beyond the strictures of the camera. In painting I seek the pure joy and drama of landscape, its form and how it’s affected by light.
Atmosphere, imagination and expression are important to me in a painting. These elements become a transformation of memory and observation into a new thing, a painting with a life of it’s own. I often return to the same piece of landscape, and though familiar, it is always different. This observation defines the painting. Dartmoor, North Wales & the Yorkshire Moors feature in my work.
