My sister trained as a Bowen Therapist, and I became one of her case studies. At the time, I was very sceptical about alternative therapies, so I wasn't expecting a great deal from it. What surprised me was just how much I experienced from something that felt so gentle. It made me curious - I wanted to understand how Bowen worked and how the body works as a whole. That curiosity stayed with me and, several years later, I decided to change career and train professionally as a Bowen Therapist. What started with me being a slightly sceptical client has turned into something I'm genuinely passionate about. What is Bowen Therapy? Bowen Therapy is a gentle, light-touch form of bodywork. It involves a series of precise movements over muscles, tendons and soft tissue, with pauses throughout the treatment. It isn't a forceful therapy and doesn't involve deep massage or manipulation. Instead, the work is gentle and gives the body time to respond. One of the things I find particularly interesting about Bowen is how it works with the whole body. The body doesn't work in isolated parts, something that feels uncomfortable or restricted in one area can sometimes be connected to what is happening elsewhere. That's why I don't simply concentrate on the place where you feel pain or discomfort. I look at how the body is moving as a whole and what I notice during the treatment. A treatment tailored to you No two people are the same, so I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all treatment. When you come to see me, I'll take time to listen to what you've been experiencing, how you're feeling and what has brought you to Bowen. I'll also look at how you're moving and how your body is responding, helping me tailor the treatment to you. Sometimes people come with a very specific problem. Other times they know that something doesn't feel quite right but aren't sure how to explain it. You don't need to arrive with all the answers. I’m particularly interested in helping people understand their bodies rather than simply focusing on a symptom. If I notice something during a treatment that may help explain what you're experiencing, I'll talk you through it in straightforward language. I want clients to feel involved in their treatment and to come away with a better understanding of their own body. Who do I work with? One of the things I love about Bowen is the variety of people I get to work with. I see adults of all ages, as well as children and babies, and I'm happy to work with families. People come to me for many different reasons, including ongoing pain or stiffness, support following an injury, physical tension, or conditions such as fibromyalgia. Others aren't experiencing a specific problem but are interested in supporting their body and giving themselves some time and attention. Bowen can be adapted to suit the individual, so the treatment and positioning can be adjusted depending on someone's age, needs and comfort. If you need someone to accompany you to your appointment, there's also space for a family member or support person to be with you. I also offer home visits within the local area where appropriate. This can be particularly helpful if travelling is difficult because of pain or restricted movement, or if getting to a treatment room simply isn't practical. For me, accessibility is about finding a way of working that is appropriate for the person in front of me. What can you expect? My treatment space in Dawlish is calm, comfortable and private, in a room separate to the main house. At your first appointment, we'll have a conversation about what has brought you to Bowen and anything else that may be relevant. I'll explain what will happen and answer any questions you have before we begin. Bowen is generally carried out through light clothing, and the treatment itself is gentle. I'll work at a pace that feels comfortable for you and adapt the session according to what I find and how you respond. I also don't believe in promising miracle cures or telling everyone that they need a particular number of treatments. Every person is different, and how someone responds to Bowen will be individual to them. What I can offer is my time, attention and experience, along with a genuine interest in helping you. Why The Alignment Studio? The name The Alignment Studio reflects my interest in how the different parts of the body work together. I'm fascinated by the connections within the body - how movement, posture, breathing, muscles, fascia and the nervous system can all influence how we feel and move. I'm always learning, too. I continue to develop my knowledge through CPD and further training because the more I learn about the body, the more I realise there is to learn. I’m fully registered with the Bowen Therapy Professional Association (BTPA), which is important to me because I want clients to know that I'm committed to working professionally and continuing to develop my practice. Being based in Dawlish means I get to work with people from my local community, and I really value the personal nature of running a small local business. It’s about having fun, focusing on something with your hands, and leaving with something tangible that you’ve made yourself. I’m Jenni, the maker behind Ginger + Make. I run beginner-friendly creative workshops and creative clubs in Plymouth, helping people build confidence through creativity and making. Whether it’s sewing, wire work, crafting or simply trying something new, my sessions are a chance to slow down, get creative and make something you’ll be proud of. Because I believe making really does matter. At the heart of Ginger + Make is a simple belief: making is good for the soul. I believe everyone is creative. Sometimes that creativity gets buried under busy lives, work, family, self-doubt, or the idea that being creative is something you’re either naturally good at or you’re not. I want Ginger + Make to help people rediscover that part of themselves. For me, creativity isn't necessarily about producing something perfect or impressive. It can be about spending two hours sewing while listening to an audiobook, learning a new skill, making something alongside other people, getting away from your phone, or simply having the chance to focus on something with your hands. There is something quite magical about imagining something and then watching it come into existence. It might be a piece of clothing, a wire word, something made from reused materials, or maybe something you’ve never tried before. Where it started I studied Photography at university before working in fashion and e-commerce in London. I later retrained as an Art and Photography teacher, where I discovered how much I loved helping other people develop their creativity. After moving to Cornwall, having children and navigating the changes that came with Covid, I found myself thinking more seriously about what I wanted my own creative life to look like. Ginger + Make grew from a long-held wish to work for myself and to build a working life around creativity, making and the things that matter to me. The name Ginger + Make reflects that too. ‘Ginger’ comes from my family, three out of four of us are redheads, and ‘Make’ felt like the perfect word because it can mean so many things. What I offer Ginger + Make is deliberately varied, because I don't think creativity has to fit into one particular box. My creative workshops are beginner-friendly experiences where people can learn a particular skill and make something themselves. I've run sessions in wire writing, sewing and other creative techniques, with more sewing and textile workshops becoming an increasingly important part of what I do. My creative clubs are more relaxed. They’re a chance to come along, make something, bring your own project, try something new or simply spend a couple of hours being creative with other people. There’s no pressure to be productive or to finish something. The social side is just as important as the making. I also run private creative workshops for groups, celebrations, birthdays, hen parties, community groups and get-togethers, giving people something creative to do together rather than simply meeting for a drink or a meal. Alongside the workshops, I make personalised wire writing and signs , combining aluminium wire with colourful cord to create handmade pieces for homes, gifts and special occasions. Who is Ginger + Make for? I particularly love working with adults who don't necessarily think of themselves as creative. Maybe you used to make things but haven't done anything creative for years. Maybe you've always wanted to try sewing but don't know where to start. Maybe you have a sewing machine sitting at home that you've never quite figured out. Or maybe you simply want an excuse to spend an evening doing something that isn't work, scrolling or looking after everyone else. You don't need experience, confidence or a particular creative talent. You just need to be willing to have a go. Because one of the things I love most is seeing someone arrive saying, “I'm not creative,” and leave having made something they're genuinely proud of. Why ‘Making That Matters’? The phrase ‘Making That Matters’ has become my tagline because I’ve become increasingly interested in the role that making can play in our lives. We live in a world where it’s very easy to consume constantly, to buy something, use it briefly and move on to the next thing. I don't think the answer is to become perfect or to stop buying things altogether. I run a business that makes and sells things, after all. But I do think there is a difference between passive consumption and spending time making something yourself. When we make, we slow down, pay attention and learn. We also connect with other people and get a sense of achievement. We can get away from our phones and spend time doing something simply because we want to. And hopefully, when we understand the time, skill and thought involved in making something, we might appreciate the things around us differently too. That is the kind of creativity I want Ginger + Make to encourage: less pressure to be productive, more opportunities to stop, make, learn, connect and feel creative again. Ginger + Make is intentionally small and personal. I’m not trying to build a huge company or fill every evening with workshops. I want to create something that supports a worthwhile income while still leaving space for family life, my own making and my own art. I’m also interested in growing the sewing and textile side of the business, creating more opportunities for people to learn practical creative skills and eventually developing a dedicated creative studio of my own. For me, success isn't about having thousands of customers. I'd much rather build a genuine local community of people who come to a workshop, return to a creative club, try something else, bring a friend and recommend Ginger + Make to someone they know. About Breathe In Bliss Out Breathe In Bliss Out is about creating space to come back to yourself. I created Breathe In Bliss Out because I wanted wellbeing to feel less intimidating, less prescriptive and much more human. For many people, the idea of “wellness” can start to feel like yet another thing they should be doing perfectly. Exercise can become about appearance and performance, mindfulness can feel like something you need to be good at, and even self-care can end up becoming another item on an already overwhelming to-do list. I wanted to create something different. Breathe In Bliss Out brings together movement, holistic therapy, music, emotion, connection and rest in a way that allows people to experience wellbeing without having to perform or be anything other than themselves. My work is built around a simple idea: sometimes we need to get out of our heads and reconnect with our bodies. That can look completely different from one person to another. For somebody, it might be lying still during a treatment and finally allowing themselves to switch off. For somebody else, it might mean moving, shaking, stretching or dancing to music. Sometimes it means being part of a room full of people, and sometimes it means having quiet, individual support. There isn’t one correct way to feel better. Movement without judgement. One of the biggest parts of Breathe In Bliss Out is movement. But these aren’t traditional dance or fitness classes where people are expected to learn choreography or keep up with an instructor. My eMotion Dance sessions are about moving your emotions. Music is used to encourage people to notice what they are feeling and give themselves permission to move in whatever way feels right for them. You absolutely do not need to be a dancer. There are no routines to memorise and no expectation to look a certain way. You might dance, stretch, shake, stand still or close your eyes. The purpose is not to perform; it is to experience. Reset Movement has a slightly different feel. These shorter sessions are designed to help people wake up their bodies, shift stagnant energy and reset how they feel. They include simple, intuitive movement and are accessible to people who may not consider themselves particularly fit or flexible. The phrases I use to describe the different parts of Breathe In Bliss Out sum it up beautifully: Move your body. Move your emotions. Move your soul. Back to Yourself My larger Back to Yourself immersive events bring all these elements together. Rather than simply attending a dance class, people are taken through an experience. Sessions can include a welcoming circle, cacao, grounding, gentle warm-up movements, an immersive music and dance journey, guided relaxation and time afterwards to reconnect over drinks, tea or cake. The intention is to create several hours where the outside world can become a little quieter. Modern life is incredibly busy. Many of us spend huge amounts of time looking after businesses, children, families, homes and other people. We become very good at functioning while barely noticing how we actually feel. Back to Yourself is quite literally an invitation to do that — come back to yourself. Holistic therapies Alongside group movement and events, Breathe In Bliss Out also offers one-to-one holistic and complementary therapies. For some people, that quieter environment is exactly what they need. My approach is never about promising that one treatment will magically fix everything. Instead, the aim is to provide a calm, supportive space where clients can slow down, receive care and reconnect with themselves. Every treatment and session is approached individually rather than as a conveyor-belt experience. Local, mindful and community focused Being part of the local community is incredibly important to me. Breathe In Bliss Out is an independent East Devon business, and wherever possible I work with local venues, studios, wellbeing spaces and other small businesses. My events have taken place across East Devon and Exeter, allowing me to bring different groups of people together rather than being tied to one large commercial venue. Community is also one of my favourite parts of the business. People may initially arrive because they want to try movement, attend an event or have a treatment, but often what they discover is connection, both with themselves and with other people. I want my spaces to feel welcoming rather than exclusive. You don't need the right clothes, the right body, previous dance experience or an extensive understanding of holistic wellbeing. You can simply turn up as you are. What makes Breathe In Bliss Out different? Breathe In Bliss Out sits somewhere between traditional wellness, movement, dance and holistic therapy. Our pilots come from careers where every decision carried the weight of someone’s life in our hands. Our pilots come from a world where lives depended on getting it right. In the midst of those high-pressure situations, we learnt what truly matters. Every Life Matters. That includes re-uniting pets with their loved ones. We use Thermal radiometric cameras mounted to our aircraft. For Search & Rescue operations, this means we can program the aircraft to look for a specific temperature range. In the context of Search & Rescue operations, we can tell the aircraft to search for a body heat signature matching that of an animal. Detecting heat signatures as low as 0.1 degrees Celsius, the aircraft will produce an image of an animal glowing against cooler ground. Aircraft like ours are extremely capable, versatile and accurate when it comes to searching for heat signatures. James Ellyatt (an ex-police officer with 5 years’ experience investigating serious crime) is trained to search and apprehend wanted fugitives as well as missing & vulnerable people, as well as flying powered aircraft and drones for the past 11 years. It also happens that those skills are extremely effective in locating lost animals, and James is excited to bring these skills to the table in helping pet owners reunite with their loved ones. Our Story Our story starts at a construction site in the heart of Devon, United Kingdom. James Ellyatt (purchasing a drone out of search for a new hobby) comes across a construction team assembling a house in the middle of the countryside. Asking if he could take off from their land and film their site, the builders agreed and James produced a short video for them along with some aerial site pictures. The construction firm liked the pictures so much, that James was invited back to the site upon completion. It was here that James realised that there was a demand for premium media content to get organisations and their unique services out there and into the world stage and looking at the thing that he loved the most (Junior The Dog), he founded Junior Aerial. After a flurry of orders for stunning media content for local businesses and events during Summer 2026, James wanted to use his professional experience in the Police locating missing & wanted people to locate lost animals and in turn acquired a thermal equipped drone. On the darkest nights and earliest mornings, James helped owners re-unite with their loved ones. Fast-forward to the present day, Junior Aerial is now providing survey-grade drone data and aerial surveying services, combining the creativity that started the business with the technical precision needed to help businesses make better-informed decisions. These offer different ways to get involved, from trading cards and friendly matches to collaborative storytelling, strategic thinking and lively social games. We are an organised-play store, and building a positive playing community matters to us. We want people to enjoy using their cards, learning their games and meeting others who share their interests. Our wider gaming community now also includes The Old Library , a separate members-only wargaming venue at Tiverton Memorial Hall. This provides dedicated space for tabletop battles, while the café remains the place to discover our board games, trading card activities and roleplaying sessions. Throughout the weekend, local producers host talks, tastings and demonstrations, offering a deeper connection to the region's food and craft. Alongside this, a programme of wellbeing and creative sessions unfolds across the meadows and gardens, from gentle movement and breathwork to hands-on workshops inspired by nature. Intentionally intimate in scale, DevonDays offers a calm and considered alternative to larger festivals - a chance to slow down, gather around the table, and experience the flavours, people and landscape that make Devon unique. A Return to Slower Living, Rooted in the Countryside < Back Mary Mint A Return to Slower Living, Rooted in the Countryside I grew up in the beautiful Cheshire countryside, where I was lucky enough to spend my childhood roaming fields, woodlands and country lanes. I had the freedom to explore, get muddy, climb trees and simply be outside. That connection to the countryside has never really left me. I now live in Devon, surrounded by people and the bustle of town life, but I still find myself drawn to the fields, woods, farms and coastline. I love growing things, being outside and understanding where the things we eat and use actually come from. That connection with the land is at the heart of Mary Mint. Mary Mint is my little corner of the world where I bring together British food, natural homewares, natural skincare and thoughtfully made products, with a particular focus on provenance, quality and using what we already have. I suppose, really, Mary Mint is my attempt to bring a little bit of the countryside back into everyday life. Why buy something simply because it's cheap? One of the things that increasingly troubles me is our throwaway culture. We are constantly told that we need to make more sustainable choices, yet we continue to ship huge quantities of products around the world because they can be made more cheaply elsewhere. Take garlic. Britain has a perfectly good climate for growing it, yet much of the garlic we buy in our shops has travelled thousands of miles from China. There are complicated reasons behind global food supply chains, of course, but I often find myself asking a very simple question: Why have we allowed the cheapest option to become the default? British agriculture and manufacturing have declined over generations, and now we are seeing the consequences in our food system. I have friends who are farmers, and my partner Mark is a small-scale market gardener, growing fruit and vegetables for our local farm shop. I see first-hand how much work, skill and care goes into producing good-quality food here in Britain. It is not easy. And yet we often expect British producers to compete with products made thousands of miles away at a fraction of the price. I don't pretend that I have all the answers, but I do believe that our choices matter. If we continually choose the cheapest possible option, we inevitably shape the kind of world we end up with. Buying less, but buying better I often think about the difference between buying a £1 plastic toy that breaks the next day and spending £15 on a beautifully made wooden toy that can be played with for years and passed on. The first appears cheaper. But is it? The real cost isn't just what comes out of your purse. It is the materials, the energy, the transport, the packaging and ultimately what happens when we no longer want it. I don't want Mary Mint to be a shop full of things people don't need. Quite the opposite. I want to encourage people to buy less, but better . To choose things because they are useful, beautiful, well made or genuinely bring something to everyday life — and then to look after them. There is something rather lovely about the old-fashioned idea of buying something once and keeping it for years. Nothing wasted. Everything valued. A big part of Mary Mint is my fascination with the things that have traditionally been valued because nothing was wasted. British animal fats are a wonderful example. Beef dripping and pork lard are traditional products that have been used for generations, but somewhere along the way they became unfashionable. I work with British producers to bring these ingredients back to people who appreciate traditional food, cooking and making use of the whole animal. That principle extends beyond food. I love products made from natural materials and products that make use of what is already available. Wool, sheepskin, leather, cotton, wood and other natural materials all have a place in Mary Mint. It is about looking at something and thinking: How can we make something useful from this rather than throwing it away? That is the circular thinking that I love. Natural living without the preaching I'm interested in natural health and wellbeing too, but I don't want Mary Mint to tell people how they should live. Life is complicated enough without another person on the internet telling you that you're doing everything wrong! For me, it is about becoming more conscious of the things we bring into our homes and the choices we make every day. I don't want cheap plastic tat for the sake of filling a shelf. I would much rather find something made from wool, wood, cotton, leather or another natural material, particularly when it has been made by a British artisan or small business. I'm fascinated by the growing conversation around microplastics, synthetic materials and what we are surrounding ourselves with every day. I don't claim that natural automatically means perfect, but I do think it is worth stopping occasionally and asking ourselves what we are buying, why we are buying it and whether there is a better alternative. For me, that is what slow living is really about. Not perfection. Just more thought . Supporting British farmers and makers Whenever possible, I choose British suppliers and small independent producers. I want to know where things come from. I want to understand who made them. I want to support the farmer, craftsperson or small business behind the product rather than simply buying another anonymous item from a huge supply chain. Mary Mint brings together a growing collection of British animal fats and traditional foods, natural skincare, soaps, wool and sheepskins, natural homewares and products from independent British makers. Every product has to earn its place. If I wouldn't want it in my own home, I don't want to sell it to somebody else. From Devon to Surrey Mary Mint is growing in a very organic way — largely through word of mouth, local markets and meeting people face-to-face. You'll increasingly find me at markets around Devon, where I love chatting to customers, explaining where products have come from and hearing what people are looking for. I'm also delighted to have a new curation at The Green Door Emporium in Tiverton , opening on 3rd October, which gives Mary Mint a lovely new home and another opportunity for people to discover the range. And I'm beginning to look further afield too. I'll soon be heading up to Surrey, where Mark's parents live, and I'm hoping to use those visits as an opportunity to introduce Mary Mint to a new area and see where it might lead. I don't have grand plans to become a huge retailer with warehouses full of products. I'd much rather grow slowly, build genuine relationships and create something that feels meaningful. Welcome to Mary Mint Ultimately, Mary Mint is about a return to something that I think we've lost a little along the way. A slower pace. A connection with the countryside. Respect for the people who grow and make things. Natural materials. Traditional skills. Using what we have. Buying thoughtfully. And remembering that the things we own don't have to be disposable. I want Mary Mint to inspire people to look at everyday life slightly differently — perhaps to cook with a traditional fat, choose a wool blanket instead of a synthetic one, buy a beautifully made wooden or cotton item, discover a British maker, or simply stop and ask where something came from before they buy it. Rachel's Reads is a small independent business offering a fun and exciting way to get involved with reading. I sell blind date with a book, which are for adults, teens and kids. These are beautiful hand wrapped, with my own label designs and using recyclable kraft paper, which is important to me. < Back Rachels Reads Rachel's Reads is a small independent business offering a fun and exciting way to get involved with reading. I sell blind date with a book, which are for adults, teens and kids. These are beautiful hand wrapped, with my own label designs and using recyclable kraft paper, which is important to me. Rachel's Reads came about from my lifelong passion of books and reading. A book comes with me almost everywhere I go, and has done so since I was young. I left a high pressure industry where I wasn't valued, and struggled with what I should do next. My love of reading is the biggest thing about me, so it seemed like a great starting point! My customers are anyone who loves reading, or knows people that do. They make the perfect gift, but also a wonderful treat for yourself. I wanted to include children, as it's so hard to get kids reading with technology so easily accessible, and my love of reading came from libraries and school as a child. This is why I try to stock as early as 3/4 years, all the way through to Adults. I try to use less plastic, and make packaging recyclable. This is why I use kraft paper, with no glitter or shiny parts, and paper labels which I design and print myself. The great thing about blind date with a book is you get to enjoy the surprise and then keep or pass on! I also have a small second hand book cart which comes with me to markets. The books I wrap are new, but I like to tie in with the second hand books too, to give them a new life, and hopefully one day a bigger range.
