Rachels Reads
Rachel's Reads is a small independent business offering a fun and exciting way to get involved with reading. I sell blind date with a book, which are for adults, teens and kids. These are beautiful hand wrapped, with my own label designs and using recyclable kraft paper, which is important to me.
Rachel's Reads came about from my lifelong passion of books and reading. A book comes with me almost everywhere I go, and has done so since I was young. I left a high pressure industry where I wasn't valued, and struggled with what I should do next. My love of reading is the biggest thing about me, so it seemed like a great starting point!
My customers are anyone who loves reading, or knows people that do. They make the perfect gift, but also a wonderful treat for yourself. I wanted to include children, as it's so hard to get kids reading with technology so easily accessible, and my love of reading came from libraries and school as a child. This is why I try to stock as early as 3/4 years, all the way through to Adults.
I try to use less plastic, and make packaging recyclable. This is why I use kraft paper, with no glitter or shiny parts, and paper labels which I design and print myself. The great thing about blind date with a book is you get to enjoy the surprise and then keep or pass on! I also have a small second hand book cart which comes with me to markets. The books I wrap are new, but I like to tie in with the second hand books too, to give them a new life, and hopefully one day a bigger range.
