Pet Search & Rescue

Junior Aerial also offers a compassionate, owner-led and professional Pet Search & Rescue service.

Our pilots come from careers where every decision carried the weight of someone’s life in our hands. Our pilots come from a world where lives depended on getting it right. In the midst of those high-pressure situations, we learnt what truly matters. Every Life Matters. That includes re-uniting pets with their loved ones.

We use Thermal radiometric cameras mounted to our aircraft. For Search & Rescue operations, this means we can program the aircraft to look for a specific temperature range. In the context of Search & Rescue operations, we can tell the aircraft to search for a body heat signature matching that of an animal.

Detecting heat signatures as low as 0.1 degrees Celsius, the aircraft will produce an image of an animal glowing against cooler ground. Aircraft like ours are extremely capable, versatile and accurate when it comes to searching for heat signatures.

James Ellyatt (an ex-police officer with 5 years’ experience investigating serious crime) is trained to search and apprehend wanted fugitives as well as missing & vulnerable people, as well as flying powered aircraft and drones for the past 11 years. It also happens that those skills are extremely effective in locating lost animals, and James is excited to bring these skills to the table in helping pet owners reunite with their loved ones.

Our Story

Our story starts at a construction site in the heart of Devon, United Kingdom. James Ellyatt (purchasing a drone out of search for a new hobby) comes across a construction team assembling a house in the middle of the countryside. Asking if he could take off from their land and film their site, the builders agreed and James produced a short video for them along with some aerial site pictures.

The construction firm liked the pictures so much, that James was invited back to the site upon completion. It was here that James realised that there was a demand for premium media content to get organisations and their unique services out there and into the world stage and looking at the thing that he loved the most (Junior The Dog), he founded Junior Aerial.

After a flurry of orders for stunning media content for local businesses and events during Summer 2026, James wanted to use his professional experience in the Police locating missing & wanted people to locate lost animals and in turn acquired a thermal equipped drone. On the darkest nights and earliest mornings, James helped owners re-unite with their loved ones.

Fast-forward to the present day, Junior Aerial is now providing survey-grade drone data and aerial surveying services, combining the creativity that started the business with the technical precision needed to help businesses make better-informed decisions.

What began as a passion for capturing the world from above has evolved into a growing aerial media and surveying company, with each new challenge pushing Junior Aerial further into the possibilities of what drone technology can achieve.
