Sustainable maker, working to repurpose British organisation's resources to raise funds for charities. < Back Rocworx Mixed media marbling artist and leatherworker. Sustainable maker, working to repurpose British organisation's resources to raise funds for charities. Marbling Artist + Leatherworker RACHEL O'CONNELL I am a sustainable, multi-media marbling artist and an educator. I marble on paper, natural textiles, including leather, and on wood. I love the diversity of marbling, creating leather goods, including jewellery, wearable textile art scarves, cushions, tableware, lighting and stationery. Marbling is a surface pattern art, originating in Japan over a thousand years ago and is now seen as an endangered heritage craft. WORKSHOPS If you are keen to learn how to marble, I tutor workshops in my own studio in South Devon, in local galleries and at events, like Craft Festival. I enjoy demonstrating in schools, galleries and museums throughout the UK. I am also a tutor for West Dean Art College, Oxford Summer Art School and The National Trust. SHOP I make to order, shipping 3-4 weeks from order and 6-8 weeks for larger trade orders. In my shop you will find a gallery of past makes, which can be custom made to suit. If you’d like a different colour, or need to match to an interior paint, send me a paint sample or fabric swatch to colour match I aim to ship kits, tools and inks within 7 days. READY TO SHIP In my shop, my Ready to Ship range offers one of a kind, limited batch runs, or pieces, ready for shipping, as well as some seconds (perfectly imperfect!) and samples. I also occasionally pop in second hand, but in good condition, equipment and tools, perfect for novice marblers. I announce the shop drop for limited batch runs via email to my subscribers first. Personalisation and gift wrap are complimentary, just let me know if you are gifting to someone special and I can leave the gift tag blank. Learn more

Our Team Meet the Team Meet the founders of Circular Social Co-Founder Rebecca Winther As the owner of a preloved and vintage women's wear business, I am passionate about sustainable thrifting, shopping, and supporting local. I LOVE preloved fashion and am a huge advocate for rewearing! I wanted to build a community of like-minded individuals and business owners to help raise each other up and collaborate to help each other succeed - and that is why Circular Social became our next passion project. It's been amazing seeing it grow and flourish. Co-Founder Lanie Bayliss I've worked in digital marketing for a long time. Over my career, I've worked with a range of well-known brands and businesses, but I've always had a place in my heart for local Devon businesses. Working with Rebecca made me realise that local businesses need a lot more support. Rather than being in competition with other businesses in the same industry, it made sense for there to be a community to bring them together in collaboration - so Circular Social was born! Frequently asked questions Who is the community for? Small Devon businesses ideally with an eco-focus operating and serving customers and clients in Devon. What does Circular Social do? We bring together makers, creators, and sellers of preloved, vintage, handmade, and sustainable goods and services to build a supportive network rooted in collaboration rather than competition. What is Circular Social's mission? Whether you’re a local business owner looking to grow your reach or someone passionate about sustainability and creativity, Circular Social is a space where like-minded individuals can connect, cross-promote, and thrive together. We champion the value of creativity, quality and reuse, spotlighting the unique stories behind the products and services our members offer. What are Circular Social events? At Circular Social, we believe that community and sustainability go hand in hand. Through engaging events like markets, sip & swaps, workshops and networking meetups hosted at beautiful local venues, we create opportunities for small businesses to be seen and heard while inspiring people to embrace mindful consumption. How does Circular Social make money? From a community point of view, we don't! We work completely voluntarily building and promoting our community members. We do put on Circular Social events to make a side income that can be put back into the community in terms of running the website, social channels and to host more events going forward. How can I get involved if I'm not a small local business? Even if you don’t run a small, eco-conscious business, you can play a vital role by supporting the local, independent traders in our community. Every purchase helps keep money in the local economy, reduces environmental impact, and supports people passionate about ethical, sustainable ways of working. By shopping second-hand, handmade, or locally produced, you’re helping to reduce waste, encourage mindful consumption, and be part of a more circular, community-focused way of living. Is Circular Social a business? Circular Social is a community, run voluntarily by Lanie Bayliss and Rebecca Winther. They put in the hard work to keep the community running smoothly alongside their full time jobs! They are extremely passionate about supporting local businesses, particularly those with an eco-focus or companies that are willing to learn about how to incorporate eco-friendly practices into their day to day running. How can I join the Circular Social community? Joining is simple! Fill out the form on our website with your company name, your name, and upload your logo. We’ll add you to our community page and welcome you to the Circular Social family. What types of events does Circular Social host?
